Presenter: Casey Townsend, Land’s Sake Education Director

The victory garden, once used during World War I and II as means to support the community, is now making a revival around the country.  With rising energy and ecological costs associated with the production of our food, it is now time to return to our local backyards and public spaces to grow our own produce.  This workshop will use the victory garden idea as a model for growing food in your own backyard and will teach you everything from proper site selection to seed preparation to soil amendments.  By the time you leave the workshop, you will be empowered to pick up a seed catalog and grow your own nutritionally rich, locally grown food that will benefit your family and community.
