Kick off the maple sugaring season by helping us tap approximately 200 maple trees around Weston. This fun, educational event is especially popular with families! Land's Sake staff will provide a tapping demonstration and participants will be divided into groups and assigned to various locations across town to tap sugar maples, so please be on time. After the event, join us at the Bill McElwain Sugar House for some hot cocoa and cookies! We are limiting this event to 50 people, so please RSVP to dave@landssake.org if you would like to attend. A REQUEST: Land's Sake will provide most of the supplies, however, we do encourage you to bring your own power drill and 5/16" drill bit, if you have one. This will allow for more people to be tapping at the same time. | ||

Designed to actively involve youth in all phases of maple sugar production, students help identify and tap maple trees, gather sap, and boil and bottle syrup. Students learn the rich heritage of sugaring in New England from past to present, as well as the science behind the sugaring process. The season ends with the popular Land’s Sake Sugaring Off event, held at the Sugar House, where students lead tours using the knowledge acquired over the season.
