Farm shares (CSA program)

CSA shares are sold out for 2010. To be put on the waiting list for 2011, please email info@landssake.org.

What is a CSA?
CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture," an increasingly common model for small, sustainable-method farms to market their produce. In a CSA program, shareholders share with the farmers the bounty and risk inherent in growing food. Shareholders participate by purchasing a season's worth of farm-raised food before the growing season begins. CSA members then pick up their share of the harvest on a weekly basis during the growing season, usually 20 weeks.

Joining a CSA allows shareholders to share in the bounty of the farm's harvest and represents a commitment to growing and consuming food grown close to home without the use of synthetic chemicals that pollute our soils and waterways. Shareholders also enjoy meeting with friends at their weekly pick-ups, swapping recipes, and harvesting pick-your-own crops together.

How does the Land’s Sake CSA work?
A Land's Sake CSA share consists of a variety of organically-grown, seasonal vegetables harvested weekly during the 20-week season, June through October. Pick up days are Tuesday or Thursday from 1pm-7pm at the farm (under the yellow and white tent, behind the farmstand). Shares also include pick-your-own crops, subject to weekly limits based on availability and crop conditions. These include cherry tomatoes, peas, green beans, various herbs including basil and cilantro, and flowers.

We ask that throughout the season shareholders stick to the pick-up day they chose at the beginning of the season. Also, we do not sell half-shares; however, shares may be split between two parties who are members of Land's Sake.

How do I join the Land’s Sake CSA?
CSA shares are sold each year on a first-come, first-serve basis, starting with current CSA members. Land's Sake CSA shares cost $650 for 2010, which includes a membership to Land's Sake at the $50 level. Please read our Policies and Procedures (pdf) for more information. On average Land's Sake sells 100 shares each year. If you wish to be added to our waiting list, please email us.
