CSA program

If you have any questions about our CSA program, please email csa@landssake.orgPlease note that as of February 3, 2012, we will open enrollment for new CSA shareholders.  See "How do I join the Land's Sake CSA?" at the bottom of this page, for more info.

What is a CSA?
CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture," an increasingly common model for small, sustainable-method farms to market their produce. In a CSA program, shareholders share with the farmers the bounty and risk inherent in growing food. Shareholders participate by purchasing a season's worth of farm-raised food before the growing season begins. CSA members then pick up their share of the harvest on a weekly basis during the growing season, usually 21 weeks.

Joining a CSA allows shareholders to share in the bounty of the farm's harvest and represents a commitment to growing and consuming food grown close to home without the use of synthetic chemicals that pollute our soils and waterways. Shareholders also enjoy meeting with friends at their weekly pick-ups, swapping recipes, and harvesting pick-your-own crops together.

We are offering two different share options in 2012.  Read more to find out how they work and what you get.

The Traditional Share costs $625, plus the cost of individual Land's Sake membership ($55), for a total of $680.  See the details below.

  • In exchange for your support in advance of the growing season, you receive 21 weeks of Land’s Sake grown vegetables starting in June and wrapping up at the end of October.  You pick up at our beautiful farm, in the center of Weston.
  • Choose one of three options as your regular pick-up time for the season: Tuesday 2pm -7 pm, Thursday 2 pm – 7pm, or Saturday 11am – 4pm.  We try our very best to accomodate your preference for pick-up days, but unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will receive your first choice.  For your convenience, we do offer four "pick-up swap" days in case you have a schedule conflict on a pick-up day.
  • You can expect an average of about 15 lbs of veggies each week. Tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, bok choy, summer squash, garlic, beets, chard, broccoli, winter squash, carrots, eggplant, kale, peppers and many other yummy seasonal crops are included in your share.  This is enough for two very-veggie-loving adults, or for a family of four who really appreciates veggies.  While the value of the veggies you receive for your money is excellent, we can't promise that you won't want or need to supplement your share with produce from other sources.
  • In addition to our pre-picked offerings, we also include Pick-Your-Own crops as part of your share: sugar snap and shelling peas, green beans, flowers, cherry tomatoes and tomatillos. If you don't have the time to collect your PYO crops when you are picking up your share, you can return at any time that the farmstand is open during the same week to get your PYO crops.
  • You'll receive weekly email newsletters with farm updates, recipe links and storage tips. Our farmers love to share good recipes with our shareholders.
  • At our pick-up site, we offer helpful paper copies of delicious recipes to compliment the more obscure veggies you may receive from us.
  • You get our handy CSA guide (including FAQs, policies, veggie storage tips, recipes) at the beginning of the farm season!
  • We are pleased to announce that we are now offering more choice in selecting the produce that you receive!

The Full Season Share costs $775 plus the cost of individual membership to Land's Sake ($55) for a total of $830.

  • Includes the traditional share PLUS three larger pick-ups in the months of November and December, usually on a Saturday (unless we must reschedule due to winter weather conditions).
  • In these last three pick-ups, you can expect: winter squash, potatoes, rutabaga, leeks, onions, sweet potatoes, cabbage, greens, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and lots of other goodies! If stored properly, these crops can last through the winter months.
  • Comes with a winter veggie storage guide and recipe collection.
