The Strawberry Fields are Ready! Come on down to Land's Sake Farm to pick the sweetness of summer. Each day has different conditions and we will have to give you the details when you arrive. There may be a limit as to how many quarts you can pick. If it has rained or is wet at all, there's no picking (fungus and other bad stuff spread when it's wet). The berries do cost $4 / quart or $2.50 a pint. Please pay for what you pick - even if you "sample" a few while you're out there. Thanks! Summer is upon us. We have a lot of great stuff at the farm stand for you to purchase and enjoy - make a local meal tonight!! By shopping at Land's Sake, and supporting our various efforts like our sustainable forestry and our ecological land care services, you can help your family live a more environmentally responsible lifestyle. It is a pleasure for all of us at Land's Sake to be able to help people do the right thing. Last week we had the final session of the Spring After-School Green Power crew. We had "Farm Olympics" where the GP'ers competed against the farm staff on a variety of tests - challenging each to the top of their abilities. Below is the youngsters working on stacking 20 pieces of wood to the highest possible height to stay steady for at least 30 seconds. It was a race that they did, after all, lose. Farm Staff took the most medals on the day, but the Green Power Kids did learn a little more about the value of teamwork.
