Green Power

Green Power is our flagship educational program for teenagers interested in learning about agriculture, forestry and local ecology while working alongside Land’s Sake farm and education staff.

  • For 13 through 17 year olds
  • Jun. 25 - Aug. 20, 2012; weekly from 8:30am-3:30pm*
  • Cost: $325/week for Land's Sake members; $375/week for non-members
  • Youth have the chance to earn a stipend from their work
  • Maximum of 10 students/per week

The Green Power Summer Youth Program at Land's Sake farm is focused on learning about sustainable agriculture, food justice, and community through hard work.  This work includes weeding, planting and harvesting on our organic farm, leading farm tours, maintaining our education garden, community service and cooking a community meal.  In addition to being a great learning opportunity, Green Power teaches the value of meaningful work by giving participants the chance to earn a stipend from the work they do at the farm.  Join Land's Sake and work hard while having fun!

Student Stipend & Rules: Students will receive a percentage of the profit generated by the sale of produce at the Land's Sake farm stand based on quality of their work through week. Land's Sake reserves the right to drop a participant from the program if he/she is not contributing in a positive manner and placing an unnecessary burden on the other students and staff.

  • Weeks start June 27th - August 22; Monday through Friday each week from 9:30am - 12:30pm
  • Cost: $215 / week for Land's Sake members; $265 / week for non-members

This program will introduce your child to the ecological landscapes at our farm. Together we plant and harvest from the Education Garden, feed our chickens and collect their eggs, explore plant communities and animal habitats in the immediate area, create art projects using natural and found materials, and play nature-based games. When seasonally available, the group will make snacks such salsa, pesto, and raspberry smoothies.  Join us for an exploration-based learning experience at Land's Sake this summer!
